Pretty Shiny Things

I has a fabric and it pleases me!

Well if you want to get technical I have three fabrics...a bunch of us guildies went down to LA this weekend and if you know LA you know that the garment district is pure fabric Mecca!!! LOVE!Now when I go to LA usually I have some idea of what I'm looking for and that certainly was the case this time (It's my story and I'll tell it any way I want) I went down there looking for velvet and brocade. Let's just say it didn't work quite the way I was hoping. anyone who knows me knows that I like sapphire blue and other dark jewel tones I think that these look the best with my complexion (I have a complexion like milk I am the original whitie!! I can blind people with my forearms in direct sunlight!) and my hair (little bit darker than strawberry blonde). So I was in LA looking for dark blue it's my favorite color.
Weeeeeeell life doesnt always work out the way we expect I went down there for the same sappire blue that I has before and what I ended up with was a brocade of robins egg blue and old gold! So not my usual thing but sooooooo shiny. I wouldn't have picked it for myself but when three of my guildies plus the guild mistress tell you that it looks GOOD and you should GET IT because you'll look WONDERFUL you should listen so I got what was left on the bolt (17 yards, you can never have too much pretty) and to be perfectly honest I wasn't in love with it at first...and then I saw it in direct sunlight OMG FABULOUS!!! according to our esteemed GM it'll make me look younger that tiffed me a bit I mean I'm twenty-freakin-six, not exactly ancient over here and then I realized what she ment and that the blueberry made me look OLD (the blueberry was my last court dress it was just blue and I never had time to spruce it up so it was never more than the blueberry) this will be freakin awesome!! and with 17 yards I'll have plenty. I just hope that my sewing skills are up to the task. Well really it's just the fitting I'll have problems with, sewing and I get along ok as long as I I take my time about it. Especially skirts I can do skirts like nobodys business. it's the bodice part I have problems with. The whole tight fitting part and I don't really get along too well and I have a wierd body type I'm swaybacked and shortwaisted (Combo FTW).
SO I mentioned three fabrics and so far I've only talked about the one I know well I have two others I have a blue silk for my underskirt and a white poplin for the chemise (I know but I cant afford linen fine enough for a noble chemise it's expensive yo!) the poplin does a pretty good job of simulating linen. the blue is actually a cross weave (or at least that's what it looks like) of blue and green. It has a wonderful green tint, very yummy
Ok so I've rambled long enough I'll see if I can get some pictures of my prettys and I'll post them as soon as I figure out how.
As a side note I have the most awesome husband ever Love that man!!!
